You can also get different kinds of crumple zones, which can help to protect you and your family from just about any potential angle that a collision might end up coming from. And if that was not enough, you can even get side impact air bags, in case the air bags that can help to protect you from a head on collision are not enough to make you feel secure. But sacks of wind are not all that car companies can sell you.
Another feature that is often going to be important to you is going to be the brake. A lot of cars nowadays can be bought with four wheel disc brakes, as opposed to drum brakes or any kind of brakes that only work on two of the wheels. This can actually get you to stop a whole lot faster and more reliably, since every wheel is working together on it. Granted, it will not be enough to let you drive like a maniac when an ice storm hits. But that in itself isn’t safe.
